HISTORY: Kyle was born to a wealthy family in Richmond, Virginia. When he was born, his parents were still madly in love. But when his father took over the family law firm shortly after he turned three, everything changed. His mother came from old money, and his father came from a long line of lawyers, starting with Kyle's great-grandfather, who created Larsen & Peterson nearly 90 years ago. Between both parents' lineage, Colette didn't need to worry about working. To say he had it pretty easy growing up would be an understatement. He had the best education money could buy, the best tutors and was enrolled in the best after-school programs around. He had the best clothes, the newest gadgets. He had everything he could ever want - except his father. Thomas Larsen was a workaholic. And once he took over the law firm, it was like that was all he cared about. He spent most of his time at the office working on cases, sometimes not even coming home for several nights. And he just expected his family to understand. And he expected Kyle to follow in his footsteps like all the other Larsen family men.
His mother was the witch in the family, but she was also a stay-at-home mother. His father had no idea about their powers; his mother had hidden them from Tom, thinking it would scare him away. One day, when Kyle was four, his powers manifested and he astral projected himself into his father's study at home, after his father had locked him out. That's when his father was introduced to the magical world. Kyle's mother hoped that by knowing, he might spend a little more time at home with his family, but that never happened. She kept waiting for him to realize, but he never did. She was scared to leave him, as her family's money was slowly running out, but finally, she gave up. When Kyle was twelve, she divorced his father and the two of them moved back to California to be closer to her side of the family. San Francisco to be exact. They moved in with his aunt, who was also divorced, and his cousin, Pete, who, considering how long they lived together, was more like a brother than a cousin. His father never once called to see how they were doing, and Kyle hasn't even him since they left Virginia. The only sign he had that his father even knew he existed were the monthly checks he sent to help pay for Kyle's schooling.
Now away from his father, Kyle was finally able to discover what it was he was truly passionate about. It took awhile to adjust to going from being able to have anything to having to watch how much you spent, but Kyle adjusted pretty well. That's how he discovered cooking. His mom had to get a job to support them, and she worked late most nights as a bartender while his aunt worked the night shift at the hospital as a nurse. He and Pete had to fend for themselves. He started learning how to cook by reading recipes, and, eventually, he realized he actually enjoyed it, and he had a natural talent for it, substituting ingredients and making the food taste even better than the recipe did. In high school, he became obsessed with learning as much as he could, and eventually he decided to go into the culinary arts after he graduated. He finally got a steady job at Piper's restaurant a few years ago, after having a string of temporary jobs, none of which lasted more than six months. That's actually where he met his fiancée, Helen, since her aunt in the owner. He's finally started to settle into his life and he couldn't be happier.
